Had a great happy hour into dinner at The Continental recently. Happy hour: I love a happy hour with food, and their famous crispy brussel sprouts are on the menu! The drink menu is a bit more limited (2 cocktail options, wine and beer), but all around good deals. We had a dinner reservation so took our happy hour drinks with us to be seated. If you are a party of 2, you can request to sit in the swing seats on the 2nd level. Would recommend these seats as you'll get a cool vantage point to look over the whole restaurant, and get to swing while you eat! The food: never disappoints. We got the French onion soup dumplings (which were good, but come really hot and by the time they cooled soup the soup part had sort of congealed a bit). I got the chicken tikka for dinner and it was both delicious and a hearty portion. I always recommend the brussel sprouts as well - they are crispy and come with a perfect yogurt-based sauce! Overall would highly recommend this restaurant for the cool, retro dinner vibe and great Asian-fusion food selection.

The place has an amazing decoration with interesting dishes. Service was good. French onion soup dumplings 2/5. They were unique but not good. There was no soup in the dumplings, making the stuffing rather dry. I wouldn't recommend this. I would rather have an ordinary french onion soup. Shaking beef 3/5 - the shaking beef is good with rice. Without rice, it will be very salty. The staff offered rice to me when they brought out the food, not when the waiter took the order. The portion is not too big for $29. Pastrami fried rice 5/5. For the price and the taste, this was delicious. There is a hint of mayo and a hint of mustard in the sauce. The pastrami was tender. The overall quality and flavor of the dish are balanced to my taste. Lobster mac n cheese 3.5/5 uses orzo pasta instead of normal mac. It was rather bland in flavor but the crunchiness and lobster did make the dish worth a try. All the drinks were interesting and creative. My girl Sasha 4/5 has some sour and sweetness in it, citrusy, like a mimosa. French kiss 5/5 was definitely my favorite. It was not sour and not too sweet. The subtle taste of fragrance was so amazing. This was truly amazing. Astronaut 3/5 was also another mimosa-like drink. It was not unique due to just being a citrus drink with salt on the rim. For desserts, we got Brookie 5/5 the half and half brownie style with a scoop of ice cream on top never goes wrong. It was warm and refreshing at the same time. The peanut butter cup 4/5 is a cake with peanut mousse. It is unique to this restaurant and has rich peanut flavor. Banana creme brulee 3.4/5 I couldn't really tell the creme brulee or banana flavors. They're both very subtle. Overall the high quality and fancy service in this restaurant, plus changes in menu would definitely be a must visit.

When our lunch reservations at a nearby restaurant fell through, my coworker and I decided to try The Continental, and we're so glad we did! I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and he opted for the calamari salad. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from a grilled chicken sandwich, but it completely blew me away. The flavor, quality, and presentation were exceptional. The combination of ciabatta bread, avocado, bacon, pepper aioli, and perfectly grilled chicken was simply mouthwatering. The interior of the restaurant is really nice--modern and inviting--and our server was fantastic, attentive without being overbearing. It was such a pleasant surprise to have an impromptu lunch turn out so well. I'd definitely recommend The Continental for anyone looking for a flavorful, well-crafted meal in a great atmosphere.

I love the ambiance. The food is also good as well but it makes for a great date night or date night out with the girls. The drinks are also good. I most recently came for a happy hour at the bar upstairs. I need to come back for dinner.

While bar-hopping on a Saturday night in the square, we decided to take our chances on the top floor of The Continental, and it did not let us down. The atmosphere is very intimate, and it would make for the perfect date spot. The cocktail menu is small, but everything offered is very well-done. From drinks to satisfy one's sweet tooth to updated takes on classics, there is something for every cocktail lover out there.

I had brunch there on Sunday with a group of friends. We all ordered something different and everyone was pleased with their food. Service was good, other than clearing the dishes we were done with. We were seated in a large corner booth and the sun was in my face the whole time. There was no way to block it, and I ended up sunburned, which is a health issue for me. The restrooms are downstairs, but there is an elevator for those of us with mobility issues.

This place lives up to its eclectic vibe. The inside offers dim lighting and a cozy touch. I was lucky enough to sit in one of the fun swinging chairs on the second floor. The menu offers a wide assortment of options, from ahi tuna to chicken tikka masala, which is what me and my friend got for dinner. The plates are pretty large, but we're presented nicely. The chicken tikka masala was served separate from the rice and also came with a sort of tzatziki sauce. The rice was interesting as it had what I think was raisins in it. The flavor was definitely there though! I liked that they also offered seasonal options, like the thanksgiving plate! Although I was too stuffed to eat, it appeared that the restaurant also offers a dessert charcuterie platter that I'll have to try during my next visit!

Value to Price. Great! Not cheap, but for downtown Philly, location, service, and food...really good. Modern vibe. Had brunch, omelette, and bloody mary on Sunday. Would repeat. Fun tip. Use washroom downstairs. Mens room has two way mirror to hallway. Causes a double take and smirk.

I've visited the now closed sister location of this chain at 2nd/ Market several times over the years . However, this was my first time visiting the 18th and Chestnut location. My overall experience was decent. Environment As seen via the images, the restaurant is retro inspired with swing chairs and azul bucket seats. The service left nothing to be desired and despite arriving at peak brunch time(12pm) I was promptly seated. Food I chose the Big Bang meal which was simply a breakfast sampler of "the hits". Everything was delicious, barring the scrambled eggs which missed the mark on flavor and were hard to savor. Overall, the Continental is a modestly priced diner(considering most of the others are now defunct)that delivers on the vibe and is slightly above average as it relates to the food. Happy eats!
